The concept for The Union
Gourmet Market and Café located in the Residences
at the Western Union Building is the
brainchild of one of Philadelphia's own culinary couples,
Theresa Fera and Chef Felix Maietta, C.E.C. of The
Prestigious Down
Town Club. Based on their philosophy
that customers should not have to sacrifice quality
for convenience, their objective is to provide food-
focused individuals a fresh satisfying alternative
to the usual take-out options. A welcome solution
to the "What's for Dinner?" dilemma. It's All About

Chef Maietta is recognized as one of the region's
premier chefs. He has entertained U.S. presidents,
dignitaries and notable celebrities at The Down Town
Club, where he has been Executive Chef since 1993.

As president of Fera Donna, Inc., the management company
for The Down Town Club, Ms. Fera's experience has
covered all aspects of food service operations, from
catering and sales to operations and finance. Her
business acumen earned her the distinction of 2005
Restaurateur of the year by The Delaware Valley Restaurant
Association for her 25 years of work at the historic
venue.
Union Gourmet Market & Café offers an incredible selection
of fresh-made soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizzas,
house-baked breads and chef-prepared entrees. In addition
to its menu and carry-out items, Union Gourmet has
a remarkable selection of artisanal cheeses, cured
fish and charcuterie and a daily changing antipasto
bar. A barista prepares coffees, lattes and tea to
order and a bakery counter with delectable desserts
is sure to please anyone's sweet tooth.
